Amin Rokni
Amin has been practicing yoga since 1997. His background in yoga began with a strong focus on meditation. Prior to his first yoga class he had been studying both Tibetan Buddhist and Vipassana meditation techniques for several years. His interest in these forms of meditation is what led him to the yogic path. He began studying intensely with Doug Keller, one of the first certified Anusara teachers, in 2001.
Doug taught undergraduate philosophy for several years before moving to India where he spent seven years living at the Gurudev Siddha Peeth ashram in India practicing and studying yoga in all its aspects. During this time, he became a master in the art of pranayama, meditation and yogic philosophy, writing several books on all three subjects. Doug's knowledge and teaching style had an enormous impact on Amin and led him to explore ashram life for himself.
In 2003 Amin moved to an ashram in Nederaland, Colorado. There he continued his study of philosophy and gained a deeper understanding of what it meant to live a yogic lifestyle. Amin spent several months living on the ashram, where meditation, pranayama, mantra and yogic rituals were the primary focus.
After leaving the ashram, he continued his training with Doug Keller, Desiree Rumbaugh, and John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga®. He has since trained directly with John for over 200 hours and completed both levels of his teacher trainings as well as his immersion training.
Amin's teaching style focuses on Anusara principles, with a very strong emphasis on how yogic philosophy, meditation and pranayama can enhance and transform your life.

Jennifer Waters
Discovering a love for movement at an early age Jennifer was immersed in the world of dance for over 18 years, leading her to being a performer and choreographer. The life of a dancer granted her with the opportunity to travel, perform and study internationally. During her last semester at college, her Mother suggested she attend a Vinyasa style yoga class,
it was there that Jenn would discover the form of moving meditation that would change her life. She remembers back to those yoga classes as being "challenging yet liberating," quite literally "a breath of fresh air."Enchanted by the experience of moving into stillness, Jenn had found her home. This journey has now led her to her life's work, to live and teach the
yoga she so dearly loves. Yoga has taught her to enjoy the questions of her life as much as the answers. Jenn feels blessed to have found in her teacher John Friend and Anusara Yoga® an elegant set of Universal Principles of Alignment®, an uplifting heartfelt community and a Tantric philosophy which sees the intrinsic goodness in all things.

Rachel Leshaw
Rachel was a competitive runner in high school and college. She was first introduced to yoga by a classmate at the University of Vermont where she was studying Environmental Science (known to her father as "Playing in the Woods.") She enjoyed yoga for the physicality, stress reduction and self-reflection. It was refreshing to be away from the competitive circuit.
As Rachel moved into various cities and jobs, she sought yoga studios and studied a range of yoga styles. To further her personal practice, she completed an Ashtanga teacher training at It's Yoga in San Francisco (2003.) For a few years she taught yoga in Bay Area public high schools. When Rachel moved to Encinitas in 2007, she started teaching adults at Frog's Fitness. She has recently completed the Anusara teacher training with Michael Fukumura.
Rachel's approach to yoga is "structured play." Yoga is a dance on the mat, spontaneous and expressive. Rachel loves watching her students become more comfortable in their bodies and gain confidence. Poses that begin as "impossible" become possible when approached from a place of play and good alignment. Rachel's classes are all different and cater to the needs of the students in the room.
Rachel enjoys playing with dogs, surfing, chocolate, singing/songwriting and West African dance. She feels the need to again mention dogs since she loves them like a nut.

Daryl Regalbuto
Yoga has brought miraculous healing to my life, and allowed me to overcome the symptoms of polio. It has been a gift without measure. I feel a deep and humble gratitude that I am able to teach yoga and see the gifts that yoga brings to my students. I have studied various styles of Hatha, and have trained extensively in the Anusara, Ashtanga, and Synergyï½® styles. I specialize in assisting individuals to overcome physical limitations, helping students deepen their practice with individual attention and attention to detail, helping students to break inhibiting patterns and habits.
Aside from the many classes I teach each week to every level of students, I am also involved in some exciting yoga projects. I head a program at the La Jolla VA hospital, providing hatha yoga and pranayama instruction to low-back patients. Additionally, I have developed techniques for teaching yoga to children and I am now training apprentices. I have also been a mentor teacher and led workshops and clinics in other teacher training programs.
Beauty in nature inspires me to realign with the beauty of my own true nature. At every opportunity, I find natural and beautiful places where I can more easily remove myself from the pressures and distractions that surround daily life. I love to practice yoga on the rocks, in the trees, in waterfalls, and on the beach. I rekindle my connection to the Earth, and through her, I reconnect to my Self.
Out there, there is no space for silly thought patterns and drama. When that creeps in, I look to the immense mountain, bow at the foot, then bow inwardly, and it is then that I know no thoughts. I practice yoga to maintain this essential connection to the Self in the midst of what each day might bring.

Devi Adea
Devi began her study of yoga very early in life. Raised in a yogic family, she began meditating as a young child. In 1998, Devi found Hatha yoga and loved it. In 2000, she traveled to India with Deepak Chopra’s group and practiced yoga and meditation in Agra. Shortly after, she was initiated into Kriya yoga by her godfather and teacher, Swamiji Shankarananda. Devi completed the Anusara Teacher’s training program with Sherry Schreck and is continuing her yogic education with other great teachers in Southern, CA. She is currently in immersive trainings with Lisette Hart and Michael Fukumura.
Devi believes that ultimately, our first and best teacher is the spirit within. She brings a playful, soulful and loving presence to her classes, with the intention of reawakening a healthy aligned body and unconditional self-love and awareness within her students. She sees herself more as a guide to using the student’s own inner wisdom as their true teacher in yoga.
Devi has a deep love of music and feels that the vibrations of the voice are as healing to the individual as the vibrations created through yoga. Through her presence, music, and teaching she shares with others the gift of self-discovery and a fabulous self-created life experience. |
